CORBETT
 NATIONAL PARK

A beautiful tiger reserve spread over 1,134 km, the park is in the Himalayan foothills of Pauri Garhwal and Nainital districts, Uttar Pradesh. This tourist destination is India's first national park. The area is magnificent and birdlife rich. This is the best place in the north to see wild elephants mingling with herds of chital and hog deer in the grasslands. Visitors have a good chance to seeing the tiger, that too from elephant back.

Summer begins in March-April, with a minimum of 9 and maximum of 40 degrees; May-June gets hotter at 21-45 degrees. Winter is November - February at 4-26 degrees.

Access

Nearest town is Ramnagar, 240 km, or a 7-hour drive from Delhi. Take national highway 24 to Moradabad just beyond which is a left turn to Kashipur and Ramnagar, where the Corbett Tiger Reserve office is located. From Lucknow it is 430 km and from Nainital 63 km. Pantnagar, 60 km from Ramnagar, is the nearest airport and the railhead is Ramnagar which is 9 km from Bijrani (via Amdanda gate, 2 km) and 51 km from Dhikala (via Dhangarhi gate 18 km)

Morning excursion by jeep into the park to view wildlife. Late afternoon jungle excursion on elephant back.
